The Baker is a small artisan bakery founded in 2004
by Duncan Poyser. The term “ Artisan “ simply means
that we use few automated processes relying instead
on traditional methods, using long fermentation to
develop the full flavour of the dough and hand moulding
each individual loaf, no two loaves will look exactly alike!
All our breads are made without stabilisers, chemical
enhancers or E numbers, are completely natural and made
using stone-ground organic flour from award winning
Shipton Mill in Gloucester and original recipe’s by
The Baker. We are interested in quality rather than
quantity, making and baking in small batches, aiming
to source the best ingredients for the products we make.
We have a passion for bread and as a neighbourhood
bakery we feel that the daily ritual of buying bread
locally is important. Dough is a living thing and bread
is a highly nutritious food in all its many varieties
